Olds Ambassadors were played by several big name musicians according to many internet sources. If you are looking for premium Olds Ambassadors in the key of Bb these are two of the finest you will find. You can hardly tell that these were used horns. Both say "Los Angeles" indicating they were made in the LA plant before 1955 when Olds moved to Fullerton CA. NOTE* These two instruments have silver plated bells with 24K gold leaf applied in the engraved areas and gold wash in the bells.īeautiful and they match. They were color buffed and new GOLD (Nikolas) lacquer applied.Īlignment is perfect and both play like Olds were known to play. We honed the valve casings slightly to remove any imperfections.Īfter they were "bright dipped" for only a few seconds to bring out its original luster New springs, felts and corks were installed throughout. The valves have been cleaned, lapped where needed and the parts were polished. All solder joints have been checked and reinforced where needed. These instruments have been stripped of all the original lacquer, chemically cleaned and sanitized.Īll dents have been removed. The valves on the trumpet do have slight indication of prior use in a couple of places but that does not effect the playing. There are NO DENTS or Scratches that we can see and the slides are smooth. They are both lubricated and ready to play. They have not been used since the restorations. Only because of their age and prior use are they not 100%. They both play Wonderfully Well! These are very close to new like abut 95% restored! See īoth were made when the Olds company was in Los Angeles.
